Skid Continues for Padres
August 9, 2011 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Padres News Release
Oklahoma City scored eight early runs against Jeremy Hefner and beat the Tucson Padres, 10-2. The RedHawks started the game with three straight hits and Drew Locke hit a three run home run later in the five-run first inning. Locke finished 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs for the RedHawks. Hefner ended up allowing nine runs, all earned, in six innings of work.
The Padres hitters were mystified by the soft-throwing Andy Van Hekken. Tucson had only one extra-base hit against the southpaw and he allowed just two runs in seven innings. Van Hekken also helped his own cause at the plate, crushing an RBI double over center fielder Drew Macias as part of a three-run third inning.
Bobby Kielty had two of the Padres hits and is now 11-for-23 with two home runs and six RBIs this homestand. Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the loss. Brad Brach was another bright spot in the lopsided defeat, pitching a perfect ninth inning.
Next Game: Tuesday, 7:00 pm - Oklahoma City LHP Dallas Keuchel (0-1, 29.70) vs. Tucson LHP Rob Musgrave (0-0, 5.52). KRAFT Singles Family Fiesta and Arizona Daily Star Two-for-One ticket special.
