Late Rally Gives Nashville 6-4 Win Over Aces

August 9, 2011 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev.-The Aces took a 4-3 lead into the ninth inning Monday night, but Nashville rallied for three runs in the frame to steal a 6-4 win over Reno at Aces Ballpark.

The Aces got a quality start from Barry Enright, but could not muster another run after plating four in the bottom of the second. In the second, Lucas May broke a scoreless tie with an RBI double, Angel Berroa added a sacrifice fly and Enright doubled home May to give Reno a 3-0 lead. Mark Hallberg capped the scoring with a run-scoring single, but that was all the offense the Aces could assemble on the evening.

Nashville cut the lead to 4-3 in the fourth, and there would be no runs scored by either squad until the Sounds plated three runs in the ninth. After the Sounds' Eric Farris tied the game in the ninth with an RBI single, Taylor Green hit a two-run homer, which proved to be the difference.

Enright took a no decision, surrendering three runs on six hits in six innings of work. Sam Demel (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing all three Nashville runs in the ninth.

Zack Segovia (5-3) earned the win in relief of Sounds starter Sam Narron. Randy Flores picked up his first save with a scoreless ninth.

Four Aces finished with multi-hit efforts Monday, led by Mark Hallberg's 3-for-5 night. Cole Gillespie chipped in with two hits, extending his league-best on-base streak to 31 games in the process.

The Aces and Sounds continue the interconference series Tuesday night, with the Aces sending RHP Kevin Mulvey (3-5, 6.98 ERA) to the hill. Nashville will counter with RHP Mike Fiers (4-0, 1.73 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT from Aces Ballpark.
