Skeeters Rally Late to Win 3-2

The Skeeters won a close one 3-2 on Thursday night. They jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a Michael Rockett homerun in the third inning. After the Blue Crabs tied the game in the sixth at 1-1, the Skeeters scored two runs on a single by Kevin Rios in the bottom of the seventh inning. Gary Gaetti then called on Gary Majewski in the eighth and Jason Bergmann in the ninth to nail down the 3-2 victory. For the Skeeters, Matt Wright was once again excellent, allowing just one run in six innings of work. Jeremy Sowers for the Blue Crabs was equally impressive, allowing just one run in his six plus innings of work. Aaron Bates went hitless and did not reach base, ending his streak of reaching base safely at 27 games.

Up Next: The Skeeters are set to battle the Somerset Patriots in a four-game series starting Friday night. In Game 1 the Skeeters are sending out RHP Scott Elarton (3-2, 3.64) to oppose Bridgeport RHP Brad Thompson (3-1, 3.55). Friday is the second annual Girl Scout Sleepover.
