
Patriots Storm Past Lancaster 9-1

Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers 9-1 before 5,871 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday afternoon.
The Patriots jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a solo homerun by Jake Fox (13).
Somerset scored in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly by Bobby Stevens to increase their lead to 2-0.
Corey Smith (7) tacked on two more runs for the Patriots in the third after he drove a homerun over the left field wall to make the score 4-0.
The Patriots continued to extend the lead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Fox drove in a run on a single, Luis Montanez had an RBI double, and then Eddy Martinez-Esteve and Josh Kroeger followed with RBI singles for an 8-0 advantage.
Lancaster got on the board with an RBI double by Gustavo Molina in the top of the seventh that made the score 8-1.
Somerset tacked on one final run in the seventh on a single by Kroeger for the 9-1 final.
Patriots starter Josh Lowey (5-1) picked up the win, allowing just one hit over six scoreless innings. Barnstormers starter Will Savage (3-4) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
