Fourth of July Celebration Plans Unveiled for Sovereign Bank Stadium

York, Pa. - The Cultural Alliance of York County and the York Revolution have teamed-up to bring York's FREE July 4th Celebration and fireworks show to Sovereign Bank Stadium for the first time! All the fun will begin at 6:00 p.m., with attractions and activities throughout the ballpark.
Headlining the event is the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, a.k.a "America's Big Band," the official touring big band of the United States Army. Their performance (8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. leading up to the Fireworks) is presented by General Dynamics. The 19-member ensemble has received great acclaim both at home and abroad performing America's original art form - jazz. Their diverse repertoire includes big band swing, Latin, contemporary jazz, Dixieland and patriotic selections. The Jazz Ambassadors have appeared in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Japan, India and throughout Europe.
Event sponsors also include Glatfelter Insurance, Susquehanna Real Estate, The Bon Ton, The York Newspaper Company and radio sponsors 101 The Rose (WROZ-FM) and 92.7 WKZF, The Classic Rock Station.
A carnival on the Brooks Robinson Plaza outside the stadium gates will feature a ton of fun for the entire family. Throughout the plaza there will be: Water attractions, a giant "racing" slide, bungie bounce, life-sized building blocks, a kids' obstacle course, a kids bounce house and numerous other inflatables and kid attractions. The Revolution's "DownTown" Playground will be open for the event, which will feature the same carousel, inflatable slides, obstacle course and climbing challenges that are open during all Revolution home games. The playground is located beyond centerfield and will also be free of charge for this event.
For Mom and Dad, there will be a muscle car display on the plaza and warning track, as well.
The best lawn in York County - also known as the Sovereign Bank Stadium outfield - will be open for picnicking and at 6:00 (gates open at 5:30), and the movie Madagascar III will be shown on the stadium video board. Fans may choose between the fun on the plaza, the car show on the field or the movie on the video board. (Or sample everything!)
Full concessions at Sovereign Bank Stadium will be open for the event with all your ballpark favorites, including beer sales.
At 9:30 p.m., the most epic fireworks display in the history of York City will begin! Stadium seating as well as the outfield lawn will provide a comfortable vantage point for the display.
All parking for the evening's events will be absolutely free, and the first 2,500 kids under the age of 16 will receive cool glow necklaces.
