
Skeeters Finish Homestand with Walk-Off Walk

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Marty Costes drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the 10th inning to propel the Sugar Land Skeeters to a 2-1 win over the Las Vegas Aviators on Tuesday night at Constellation Field.
Costes' game winning walk came on a full count and gave the Skeeters a series victory over Las Vegas as they closed out their homestand. The Skeeters also lowered their magic number to five games for the Triple A West East Division title.
Drew Butera began the 10th inning at second, Ronnie Dawson was intentionally walked and Jeremy Peña loaded the bases up with a bloop single to center field. Costes then delivered the Skeeters their second walk-off win in their last three games. The Skeeters have won 15 of their last 20 games and are a season-best 18 games over .500 (63-45).
Peña knotted the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning with a home run into the Skeeters bullpen in right field. It was the first career home run at the Triple A level for Peña, who's rated as the Houston Astros' No. 4 prospect by MLB.com. Luis Barrera gave the Aviators their momentary lead with an RBI single in the top of the fourth off right-hander Shawn Dubin.
Dubin got the start for the Skeeters and took a no-decision, striking out five batters while allowing the run on two hits through 3 2/3 innings.
Josh James received the win after tossing a scoreless 10th inning. Nick Allen began the inning on second base and was thrown out by at third base by Costes after attempting to advance on a fly ball to right field by Nate Mondou. James then got Carlos Perez to ground out to end the inning.
Right-hander Hunter Brown, rated as the Astros' No. 3 overall prospect by MLB.com, allowed just two hits through three scoreless innings of relief.
Following a Wednesday off day, the Skeeters will start a six-game series against the Round Rock Express, beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday at Dell Diamond.
