Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
The Skeeters fell behind the powerful-hitting Somerset Patriots Sunday night and lost for the third straight night, 7-4. Jake Fox and James Skelton both hit two-run homers in the second inning off Sugar Land starter Michael Nix and Somerset led 6-2. The Patriots' win moves them within a half game of Sugar Land in the Atlantic League's Freedom Division. Nix held the Patriots scoreless for the next four innings, while his teammates tried to catch up. A seventh inning sacrifice fly off the bat of Steve Moss brought Sugar Land within 6-4, but that is as close as they got. The Patriots handed Nix (5-1) his first loss, and Paul Phillips (3-1) was the winning pitcher.
Adam Godwin, Steve Moss and Aaron Bates all had two hits for the Skeeters, and Jay Marshall pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.
Up Next: The Skeeters finish their series with the Patriots Monday night at 7:05. In Game 4 the final game of this four game series the Skeeters send out LHP Jason Lane (3-2, 3.97) against Somerset LHP Graham Taylor (1-0, 5.44). Monday is the very first Margarita Monday, sponsored by Hornitos with specially priced Margaritas.
