Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

The Skeeters used two homeruns Monday night to defeat the Somerset Patriots 4-2 and avoid their first sweep of the year. The first long ball came with the Skeeters trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Koby Clemens launched a two-run homerun to left to put the Skeeters on top 3-2. Travis Scott then added a round-tripper of his own in the fifth inning, making it 4-2. That would be all the run support Jason Lane needed. The left-hander held the Patriots to only two runs, on two hits in seven innings. Manager Gary Gaetti then handed the ball over to his late innings combination of relievers Gary Majewski and Jason Bergmann to secure the win. Bergmann picked up the save.

Up Next: The Skeeters are heading out to York for a three game set with the Revolution to start a six game road trip. The Skeeters will be sending out RHP Matt Wright (5-0, 2.25 ERA) to oppose Revolution righty and former Skeeters pitcher Pedro Liriano (2-0, 6.75) in game one of the series Tuesday night.
