Sizzling Oilers Home Twice
January 24, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
Tues. Again: The Tulsa Oilers winners of four straight games, and six of their last eight, have two home games this week. The Oilers host the Colorado Eagles Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. They host the Missouri Mavericks Friday at 7:35 p.m. and then travel to Missouri for a 7:05 p.m. game on Saturday.
Buckin' Bulls: The Oilers stretched their current winning streak to four games with a convincing 6-1 win over the Laredo Bucks Friday at the BOK Center and then a 2-1 shootout road win.
Special K: Goaltender Ian Keserich was instrumental in the Oilers success last weekend. He came on in relief of Trevor Cann after the first period Friday, and stopped all 23 shots he faced over the final 40 minutes. He surrendered just one power play goal in 65 minutes against Texas and stopped all five shootout attempts he faced. For the weekend Keserich had a 0.57 goals against average and .983 save percentage. Keserich has stopped 20 of 22 shootout attempts this season, a .909 save percentage, tops in the league for goalies who have faced more than five shootout attempts.
Four More: Points for right winger Chad Costello have moved him into second place in the CHL scoring race. He had two goals and two assists, and is now second in the league with 25 goals and his 38 assists give him 63 points.
Stand Out: Marty Standish got the shootout winning goal Saturday, the only successful attempt in 10 shooters. The goal was also the 200th of his CHL career.
