Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release
The Bloomington PrairieThunder, Bloomington-Normal's only professional winter sports team has taken over sole possession of first place in the CHL's Turner (Northern) Conference following a weekend where the club went 2-0-1. The PrairieThunder lost at home in a shootout 3-2 to the Fort Worth Komets on Friday evening (1/21) and then posted back to back victories, first over Fort Wayne by a 4-3 margin in Indiana on Saturday night, and then winning an exciting 5-3 game against the Colorado Eagles on Sunday evening. This is the latest in the team's five year history, spanning three different leagues, that Bloomington has been in first place during the season.
The PrairieThunder (22-13-2) departed Monday morning for the Memphis, Tennessee suburb of Southaven, Mississippi where Bloomington will spend the week, playing games at the DeSoto Civic Center on Tuesday morning and Friday and Saturday night against the RiverKings (20-19-1).

The first of three straight road games against the DeSoto County, Mississippi based RiverKings.
The Memphis RiverKings played their first eight seasons (1992-2000) in mid-town Memphis, Tennessee at the now closed Mid-South Coliseum. In the fall of 2000, the team moved to the DeSoto Civic Center (known as the DCC) where they have played ever since. The season series with the RiverKings is currently tied at one win apiece. The RiverKings won in Southaven 4-1 on December 21st and the PrairieThunder won 3-1 the next night back in Bloomington. After the three games this week, the two clubs will meet one more time during the regular season, on February 11th in Bloomington at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Bloomington's Brett Holmberg leads all PThunder in scoring with 3 goals & 1 assist against the RiverKings while the ageless Louis Dumont has four points (1 goal & 3 assists) for the RKings.

CHL All-Star Jason Dale continues to lead the PrairieThunder in scoring with 13 goals & 24 assists for 37 points in 37 games.....Brett Holmberg leads the team in goals scored with 14 and in plus / minus with a +10 rating.....Jason Dale also leads the team in assists (24) and power play assists (13).....Veteran John Snowden leads Bloomington in game winning goals with 6.....Goaltender Marco Emond is tied for the league lead in wins with 17.
