EVERETT, Wash. -- The Everett AquaSox (10-7, 26-29) lost sole possession of first place in the West Division by dropping the third game of the five-game set with the Tri-City Dust Devils (12-5, 34-21) by a score of 8-5, in the sixth game of the eight matchups between the two teams that has been decided by three runs or less.

The Sox got on the board early with two runs on an RBI single by first baseman Jharmidy De Jesus after the first two batters in the game for Everett reached base, but Tri-City put up all the offense they would need scoring six unanswered runs as the Frog bats fell silent until the bottom of the sixth.

Everett got a run back in the sixth capitalizing on a two-out error by Dust Devils shortstop Taylor Featherston to make it 6-3, then shortstop Marcus Littlewood tightened the game to 6-5 in the seventh with a two-run homer, his fifth of the season tying him for fourth most on the team. All of Littlewood's home runs this season have come since July 17.

The Dust Devils responded to the two runs by the Sox in the seventh with two of their own on a solo shot and an RBI single in the eighth to put the game just out of striking distance at 8-5 with the Sox only managing to get one base runner in both the eighth and ninth innings. The loss drops the Frogs to 2-25 when they trail after six innings.

Everett is now tied for the lead in the West Division with Salem-Keizer as the Volcanoes defeated Spokane 8-4. The Sox will look to tie up the series as they send out their ace Jose Campos (4-3, 2.82 ERA), who leads the NWL in strikeouts since July 1 and has only allowed four earned runs at home this season, against Tri-City right-hander Chris Jensen (1-0, 5.40 ERA) at 7:05 p.m.
