
Vancouver brings tying run to plate but can't find way into win column

(County Stadium - Yakima, WA) - Yakima starter LHP John Pedrotty didn't allow a hit over his six innings of work to help the Bears to a 3-0 victory over the Canadians on Saturday night out at County Stadium. The loss was Vancouver's seventh straight and drops them six games off the pace in the Northwest League's West Division.
The C's started RHP Noah Syndergaard who gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning. Yakima DH Garrett Weber led off the frame with a double and came into score on a triple off the bat of 3B Tyler Bream. The Bears would cash in Bream seconds later when C Tyson van Winkle would smack a single to center field extending the lead to 2-0.
Canadians RHP Eric Brown would come into pitch the bottom of the 5th inning and allowed a run when CF Westley Moss would walk, advance to second base on a balk charged to Brown, advance to third base on a single from 2B Matt Jensen and score on a sacrifice fly from 1B Jimmy Comerota that made it 3-0 Yakima.
he Canadians will play the final game of this eight-game road trip in Yakima on Sunday, August 14th at 5:35pm.

The Canadians didn't grab a hit until the top of the 7th inning when Yakima reliever RHP Willy Parades left a pitch over the plate that LF Matt Newman slapped for a base hit. Newman would remain at first base as 1B Randy Schwartz struck out to end the inning.
Vancouver would put a pair of runners on in the top of the 9th inning when SS Bryan Kervin doubled and DH Garrett Maines walked. But with two outs in the top of the frame, LF Matt Newman would hit a lazy flyball into foul territory along the third base side to end the game stranding both runners.
Three Bears pitchers combined on the shutout that sent Vancouver to a seventh straight defeat. The Canadians are now 0-7 (.000) on their current eight-game road trip.
With the loss, Vancouver drops to 5-13 (.278) on the second half of the NWL season and fall six games back of the West Division leading Aquasox who topped Tri-City on Saturday night in Everett, WA.
