TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums scored their third straight win, tallying six runs, all unearned, in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 decision over the Midwest Sliders at Wuerfel Park on Saturday night.

Weston Curles made his professional debut for the Beach Bums and recorded the win. Curles was signed before the contest and allowed a first inning run to Midwest as Jonnie Knoble tripled and scored on a groundout. Knoble made it a 2-0 lead when he doubled, stole third, and scored on a sacrifice fly in the third. Curles threw five innings and allowed just the two runs on six hits.

Traverse City took the lead in the bottom of the third with six unearned runs. Midwest starter Chris Rubio loaded the bases as Jeff Brown and Mike Goetz walked. Steve Young legged out an infield single as he was attempting to drop down a bunt. Rubio then recorded back-to-back outs before Midwest committed back-to-back errors which enabled the bases to clear and give the Beach Bums a 3-2 lead. Zack Kalter recorded an RBI single and Eric Newton singled in a pair to account for the total.

Four Beach Bums relievers combined to throw an inning each. The Beach Bums won despite totaling just four hits, two of which came off the bat of Zack Kalter, who was the Beach Bums Player of the Game.

The Beach Bums (25-19) will host the Sliders again tomorrow night at Wuerfel Park in a 5:30 pm contest. It is Family Night at Wuerfel Park. Designated Hitter Jake Whitesides will have his hair cut on top of the Beach Bums dugout before the game at 4:15 pm to donate to charity.
