Evansville Otters News Release
Evansville, Ind. - Strong pitching led the Otters to a big 2-1 victory over the Rockford Riverhawks, and ended the five game losing streak for Evansville.
Starting pitcher Mike Damchuck (1-0) pitched a gem, as he went 6 2/3 innings and struck out ten, a season high for any Otters starting pitcher. All-Star closer Jon Lewis closed the door in the ninth to earn his ninth save of the season. Both Evansville runs came in the fifth inning as Christian Reyes and Ryan Bethel both picked up an RBI. Rockford starter Peden Rucker (0-1) took the tough loss as he allowed just three hits in 7 2/3 innings.
Evansville will go for the series win on Sunday at 6:05 CDT.
