
Wild Things Fall to Freedom

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things (22-21), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, dropped game two of a three game set against the Florence Freedom by a score of 6-4 at CONSOL Energy Park Saturday night.
The Freedom scored first in the fourth inning when Kelly Hunt smacked a solo home run over the center field fence. But the Wild Things answered in the bottom of the inning when Brad Arnett slammed a two run homer to give Washington the lead.
Ryan Basham hit a solo homer in the fifth to tie the game, but again, Washington answered in the bottom of the inning when Nathan Messner doubled to drive in Chris Sidick and Phil Butch.
Florence's Garth McKinney smacked a three run homer in the sixth to reclaim the lead for Florence. The Freedom scored again in the seventh inning when Eddie Gonzales scored on an error.
Aaron Ledbetter (6-3) took the loss for Washington, allowing five runs on nine hits, and striking out four in six innings of work. Chris Rivera pitched three innings of relief.
The Wild Things and Freedom meet for the rubber match Sunday night at CONSOL Energy Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 FM is 6:25 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office.
