OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that six Lancers have been chosen to represent Omaha in the 2010 USHL All-Star Game in Indianapolis on January 26th. Forwards Matt White, Erik Haula and Seth Ambroz along with defensemen CJ Ludwig and Dennis Brown and goaltender Jeff Teglia have all been chosen to represent the West Division and USHL's leading team at the annual event. With six representatives, the Lancers match the East Division-leading Green Bay Gamblers for the most players selected to the All-Star Game.
USHL All Stars are determined by a vote from League coaches and general managers along with input from NHL Central Scouting.
Forwards White and Haula represent two of the league's top four overall scorers at the midway point of the season. White, a third-year Lancer from Whittier, California, currently leads all USHL skaters in goals (22), points (51) and +/- (+24) while Haula, a first-year skater from Pori, Finland, is tied for third in overall scoring with 42 points on the year. Meanwhile, Ambroz, a second-year Lancer from New Prague, Minnesota, is third among all Omaha skaters in scoring with 23 points thanks 12 goals and 11 assists through 27 games. Ambroz is also currently second in the league with 8 power play goals.
But the Lancers won't simply provide offense to the USHL's 2010 All-Star Game. Defensemen Dennis Brown and CJ Ludwig along with goaltender Jeff Teglia will also represent the orange and black. Brown, a second-year Lancer from Cypress, California, currently ranks fourth among all defensemen in scoring with 21 points, which includes a position-leading 12 power play assists. Moreover, his +15 rating is second among all USHL blueliners. Ludwig, a second-year skater from Dallas, Texas, is currently tied for 9th among all USHL defensemen with 17 points. Without missing a game to this point in the season, Omaha's co-captain has compiled 80 penalty minutes, a +9 rating and a position-leading six power play goals.
Finally, Teglia will help man the net for the West Division after posting a 17-5-1 overall record through 23 appearances in the season's first half. Teglia's 17 wins are the most of any USHL goaltender while his .910 save percentage is tied for second and his 2.41 goals-against average is fourth best in the league. At nearly 1,369 minutes of crease duty, the second-year Lancer from Bloomingdale, Illinois has seen the third most minutes of any USHL backstop. Moreover, with 555 saves to this point, Teglia has turned aside the fourth most shots in the league.
