
Six Different Stingrays Score in Win Over Gladiators

Duluth, GA -The South Carolina Stingrays (15-13-1-0) pushed their winning streak to five games Sunday afternoon defeating the Gwinnett Gladiators (12-14-1-4) 6-2 in front of 3,768 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Gladiators forward Danick Paquette broke open the scoring with an unassisted marker 58 seconds into the first period beating Stingrays goaltender Jared DeMichiel with a wrist shot over the left shoulder from the bottom of the right-wing circle.
Stingrays forward David de Kastrozza tied the contest at 6:01 of the second period snapping a shot over the glove of Gladiators netminder Chris Carrozzi. Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien earned the assist on de Kastrozza's 10 goal of the season. Forward Rob Ricci made it 2-1 Stingrays at 7:35 from forwards Tommy Goebel and Jake Hauswirth. Goebel lit the lamp on the power play at 14:26 beating Carrozzi between the legs from the top of the left-wing circle. O'Brien and defenseman Dustin Stevenson recorded the assists. O'Brien made it a three-goal lead with an unassisted shorthanded tally at 17:52.
The Gladiators ended the middle period with a power-play marker at 18:41 as forward Aaron Bendickson slipped a shot past DeMichiel. Forwards Andy Brandt and Dan Kissel acquired assists.
Stingrays Captain Matt Scherer added to the lead 20 seconds into the final frame with his ninth of the season from defenseman Bryan Schmidt. Hauswirth completed the game scoring at 17:16 from forward Luke Popko.
Carrozzi suffered the loss stopping 23 of 29 Stingrays shots. DeMichiel earned his eighth win of the season kicking away 23 of 25 Gladiators chances. The Stingrays went 1-for-2 on the power play while Gwinnett finished the night 1-for-1.
