
Gladiators Fall to Stingrays 6-2

DULUTH, GA - The Gwinnett Gladiators extended their winless streak to 11 games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center Sunday night with a 6-2 loss against the South Carolina Stingrays.
The Glads opened the scoring just 58 seconds into the first period with an unassisted goal from forward Danick Paquette. This would mark his 7th of the year.
The score remained 1-0 at the end of 20 minutes with the Gladiators (12-14-1-4) outshooting the Stingrays (15-13-1-0) by a 9-6 margin.
The Stingrays struck four consecutive times in the second period. David de Kastrozza tied the score at one with a quick snapshot at the 6:01 mark. The Rays took the lead when Rob Ricci found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Tommy Goebel increased the lead to two on a powerplay goal at the 14:26 mark. Stingrays leading scorer Pierre-Luc O'Brien would bring the score to 4-1 with a shorthanded goal at the 17:52 mark.
Forward Aaron Bendickson decreased the deficit to two with a powerplay goal at the end of the second period to make it 4-2.
The Gladiators are 0-11-0-4 when trailing after two periods of play this season.
The Stingrays got a tally just 20 seconds into the third period from Matt Scherer making it a 5-2 advantage. Jake Hauswirth struck again for the Rays to cap a 6-2 final.
The Gladiators are back in action Tuesday, December 28th against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:05.
