
Street Powers Nailers Past Cyclones

WHEELING, WV ¬" Ben Street and Nick Petersen recorded four point nights to help lead the Wheeling Nailers to a 5-4 come from behind victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones Sunday night. The win gives the Nailers a three-point lead for first place in the North Division.
Both teams converted on power play goals goal in the first period. The first came off the stick of Ben Street, who scored at 3:18 into the contest to give the Nailers the early 1-0 lead. Chris Minella tied the game at one late in the first, on his seventh tally of the year.
The Cyclones stormed to a 3-1 lead early in the second, on a penalty shot goal by Dustin Sproat, and a shorthanded goal by Dylan Hunter. A little more than a minute after Hunter's goal, Ben Street scored his second of the game on a 5-on-3 power play to pull Wheeling within one. However, Cincy's Chris Clackson extended his team's lead to two once again tat 8:27 of the period. FNealry five minutes later, Ben Street poked the puck past Cyclones Marc Chevrie, to score his third goal of the game, to complete his first career hat trick, which pulled the Nailers within on 4-3 at the end of two periods.
In the third, the line of Street, Petersen, and Pierro-Zabotel continued to get the job done. Petersen scored tied the game at four at 3:04 into period, when he swung in front and snapped a backhand shot past Chevrie. Just 39 seconds later, Petersen who would get the puck to Pierro-Zabotel, who wristed a shot past Chevrie on the blocker side to give Wheeling the 5-4 edge.
Goaltender Mike Brown was solid in the third, stopping all 13 shots face in the final period to secure the 5-4 victory. Brown earns his first win in a Nailers uniform stopping 28 of 32 shots faced in the game. All five Nailers goals came from the Street, Petersen, and Pierro-Zabotel line, while Street's three goals all came off the power play.
The Nailers begin a four game road trip down south beginning Tuesday at Gwinnett. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tune into The Mix 97.3, or online at wheelingnailers.com.
