Albany Devils News Release
WILKES-BARRE, PA - Mike Sislo scored three different ways, helping the Albany Devils prevail, 6-5, against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. The Devils winger netted an even-strength goal, a shorthanded tally and a power-play goal as the Devils ended a four-game skip to improve to 6-5-0-1. The Penguins go to 8-2-0-2.
Sislo's final tally, which came at 11:45 of the third period, stood as the game-winner. Albany led most of the way, leading 3-1 after the first and 5-3 after the second.
Two quick goals by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Mike Carman and Chris Conner at the beginning of the third period tied the game at 5-5. However, a Penguins hooking penalty at 11:00 put the Devils on the power play and Sislo's one-timer from the left circle pin-balled past goaltender Jeff Deslauriers.
The goal was Sislo's fourth of the season and marked the Devils first hat trick since Bobby Bulter potted four against the Penguins on Dec. 12, 2012 at Times Union Center.
Sislo also added an assist on a Kelly Zajac goal at 15:14 of the second period, which made the score 5-3. Boucher and Rostislav Olesz, who made his Albany debut, both registered a goal and an assist.
Between the pipes, Keith Kinkaid made 28 saves on 33 shots in his first game since Oct. 23. He improves to 3-1-1.
For Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Harry Zolnierczyk and Scott Harrington both scored. Goaltender Peter Mannino made 14 saves on 19 shots before being replaced by Deslauriers, who made six saves on seven tries, in the third.
Albany, which was outshot 33-26, went 2-6 on the power play and 6-8 on the penalty kill.
The Devils return to Times Union Center Saturday for a rivalry game against the Adirondack Phantoms at 5 pm. Fans are encouraged to donate a nonperishable food item for the Price Chopper Thanksgiving Food Drive.
