
Glendening and Ouellet Recalled, Almquist Assigned

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled center Luke Glendening and defenseman Xavier Ouellet from the Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned defenseman Adam Almquist to their AHL affiliate.
Glendening, a 24-year-old native of East Grand Rapids, made his debut with the Wings on Oct. 12 versus Philadelphia, when he became the 133rd Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward has appeared in six games with the Wings, posting seven shots on goal and two penalty minutes. Glendening has also skated in eight games with the Griffins in his second professional season, producing six points (3-3 - 6) and 14 penalty minutes.
Ouellet, 20, made his NHL debut with Detroit during the team's 1-0 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 21, becoming the 134th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenseman, who posted 23 shifts and a total ice time of 17:15 with Detroit, has also produced three points (0-3 - 3), 19 shots on goal and two penalty minutes in 12 games with Grand Rapids this season.
Almquist, 22, returns to the Griffins after making his NHL debut with the Wings on Monday, becoming the 135th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL. Almquist notched his first NHL goal and point on Thursday against the Dallas Stars. The Huskvarna, Sweden, native has also appeared in 10 games with Grand Rapids this season, registering seven points (0-7 - 7), 23 shots on goal and 12 penalty minutes.
The Wings will host the Tampa Bay Lightning at Joe Louis Arena tomorrow at 7 p.m., when Glendening and Ouellet will be available to play.
The Griffins (8-2-1-1) will battle the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Copps Coliseum in the team's only contest of the weekend.
