DES MOINES, IA, December 10, 2010- The Iowa Energy moved their record to a league best 8-1 with a 103-89 victory over the New Mexico Thunderbirds Friday night in Des Moines. Center Courtney Sims scored 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Energy.
Iowa bolted out to a 31-23 lead after the first quarter behind eight early points from Sims. The Energy extended the lead to 57-41 at halftime as guard Chris Lofton scored 11 points in the quarter, including two 3-pointers.
The Energy lead would extend to as many as 24 points in the second half before coasting the win.
Othyus Jeffers finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds for Iowa.
New Mexico was led by Alan Anderson's 18 point, 10 assist night. Anthony Richardson added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
