Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Energy (8-1) used a big run midway through the second quarter against the New Mexico Thunderbirds (4-4) to win their fourth straight game by a score of 103-89.

With 3:55 remaining in the second quarter, Curtis Stinson hit a layup to cap a 10-0 Iowa run and extend their lead to 50-33. They would lead 57-41 at the half.

In the third quarter, Iowa stretched their lead to as many as 24 points after Stinson connected with Courtney Sims on an alley-oop to make the score 80-56.

The Thunderbirds got within 13 points in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer as they dropped their third consecutive game.

Both Sims (24 points, 11 rebounds) and Othyus Jeffers (16 points, 14 rebounds) had double-doubles to pace the Energy offense.

Iowa is now 5-0 at home on the season.

The Energy and Thunderbirds will play again on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. MT from the Wells Fargo Arena.
