Indiana Mad Ants News Release
Lyndsay's Allen County Twirlers will be performing a special holiday halftime show entitled "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" at the Fort Wayne Mad Ants game on Sunday, December 12, 2010.
This special baton twirling performance is dedicated to serving a greater purpose because it will benefit the Fort Wayne Marine Corp Toys for Tots Foundation and the underprivileged children this organization supports. The theme of the show reflects the excitement of a child as they receive a new toy at Christmas. The 160 new toys being used as props during this halftime show have been purchased by the baton students and their families to donate to Toys for Tots after the performance. Lyndsay's ACT recently performed this same routine and donated another 160 new toys during the IPFW homecoming game on Saturday, December 4, 2010.
The Fort Wayne Mad Ants organization has also joined the campaign to provide hope to less fortunate children in our area this Christmas by collecting new and unwrapped toys at the December 12 game.
The twirling group performing at this week's halftime event is compromised of 160 girls with ability levels ranging from beginner to advanced, ages spanning between 5 and 19. This will be the second year Lyndsay's ACT has provided halftime entertainment for the Mad Ants Organization.
Lyndsay's Allen County Twirlers is an after-school youth program in the Fort Wayne and surrounding areas. Through this program, students are given instruction in baton twirling, pompon, dance technique, and cheerleading. Lyndsay's ACT consists of recreational twirling groups and competition squads. This baton program has been established in the community for 13 years, and over this time, hundreds of girls between the ages of 5 and 19 have participated. Advanced members of Lyndsay's ACT competition squads have competed and won on a local, regional, and national level.
Lyndsay Buesching, director of Lyndsay's Allen County Twirlers, is a national-level baton twirling champion, a national level gold-seal twirling judge, former Miss Fort Wayne 2003, and an IPFW alumnus. Lyndsay earned a degree in graphic design from IPFW, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and with highest distinction. Her involvement with the Miss Fort Wayne Scholarship Organization allowed her to serve her community as a leader, role model, and advocate for "Empowering Students Through Structured Activities." Today, she mentors hundreds of students each week directing her after school baton twirling program in area elementary schools.
