March 29, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Gage Goncalves earned his first career hat trick with an assist while defenseman Ronan Seeley also piled up a four point outing to help lift the Everett Silvertips to a 6-1 blowout victory over the visiting Tri-City Americans, on Sunday in downtown Everett in WHL action.

Behind the wire-to-wire victory, the Silvertips earned their first 5-0 start in franchise history as they won their ninth in a row over the Americans behind goaltender Braden Holt's 20 saves and third star effort in his season debut. Ryan Hofer, Seeley, and Cole Fonstad supplied the additional goals for the Silvertips, who have outscored their opposition, 20-2.

UP NEXT: The Silvertips will visit the Seattle Thunderbirds in their first matchup of the season, 6:05 p.m. (KRKO/WHL Live) on Wednesday at Kent's Accesso ShoWare Center. Viewing packages remain on sale at watch.chl.ca. Play-by-play "Voice of the Tips" Mike Benton and will have pre-game coverage beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In déjà vu from seven days ago in a win against Tri-City, the Silvertips raced out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play and outshot the Americans, 13-6 in the first 20 minutes. Goncalves beat Mason Dunsford on a wrister from the left circle 3:36 into the game and Ryan Hofer followed with his second goal of the season on a second-chance effort between the circles at 7:12 for a 2-0 cushion.

Gianni Fairbrother then fed Goncalves into the slot with a perfectly placed slap pass which re-directed through Dunsford's five hole on the power play for a 3-0 lead with 6:32 left.

Tri-City ended a scoreless drought against the Silvertips of 241:30 with Samuel Huo's fourth goal of the season, finishing a two-on-one with Sasha Mutala at 1:27, and appeared to generate life on the next shift which ended with a Braden Holt save, between the circles from Landon Roberts.

Goncalves then scored his third of the game at 14:46 of the second period for a 4-1 lead shortly after a power play expired when he converted a wraparound bid at the blocker side of Dunsford. Just 1:19 later, Ronan Seeley belted his second goal of the year past Dunsford, walking in from the left point for a 5-1 lead.

The Silvertips outshot Tri-City, 8-5 in the final period and Seeley threaded a home run pass to Cole Fonstad, out of the penalty box with 10 seconds left in the game for a breakaway goal and 6-1 lead.

Dunsford, spelling Talyn Boyko who had his first career shutout the previous night, made 30 saves in his first start of the year.
