Swift Current Broncos News Release

Regina, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos (2-6-1-0) are hoping to rebound after a disappointing 5-2 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Monday night when they face off against the Regina Pats (2-4-2-0) for the second time this season.

Sunday the Broncos had a solid opening 30 minutes against Brandon on Sunday, leading 2-0 in the second period on goals from Michael Farren and Owen Williams.

The Wheat Kings scored less than a minute after the 2-0 goal, and the Broncos then ran into penalty trouble allowing Brandon to score two quick power-play goals and take a 3-2 lead into the intermission.

Brandon added two more goals in the third, one into an empty net, as the Broncos took seven minor penalties in the 5-2 loss.

The Regina Pats have been off since a 7-3 loss to the Saskatoon Blades on Friday. Saskatoon jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first period, before Regina eventually closed the gap to within one to make it 4-3.

Saskatoon added three more, with their captain Chase Wouters scoring two of them, to win 7-3.

Connor Bedard picked up another goal in the loss, his sixth of the season. He's recorded at least one point in each of his first eight WHL games to date, and leads the Pats with 13 points this season.

The Broncos met up with the Pats 12 days ago, a 3-2 loss. After opening the scoring, the Broncos saw Carson Denomie score twice to give Regina a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes. Bedard scored early in the second period to give the Pats a 3-1 lead that lasted all the way until the final minutes of the game.

With Reid Dyck on the bench for the extra attacker, Cole Nagy scored to cut the Pats lead to one with 1:36 to go, but the Broncos couldn't find the equalizer in the 3-2 loss.
