Raiders Shut Out By Blades

Regina, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (3-4-1-1) were shut out by the Saskatoon Blades (8-0-1-0) on Monday evening, falling 4-0 to their rivals in the Subway Hub Centre at the Brandt Centre in Regina.

The Blades got on the board first 3:57 into the contest. Colton Dach collected the puck in the slot after a won faceoff in the Raiders' end and snapped a shot past Carter Serhyenko to put Saskatoon up 1-0.

The Raiders had a chance to tie things up on a rush from Ozzy Wiesblatt. He found Logan Linklater with a cross-zone pass, but a Blades defender got a stick on Linklater's attempt on goal to break up the play.

With the Raiders serving a double-minor for high sticking, the Blades extended their lead. In the final two minutes of the penalty, Dach found Chase Wouters in front of the net. The Blades' captain put a shot towards go that ricocheted off a Raider skate in front of the goal and into the net to make it 2-0 with 2:35 to go in the first.

Shortly after the Blades power play, the Raiders had a chance with the man advantage. The best chance came when Remy Aquilon pinched from the blueline and found Michael Horon at the side of the goal. However, Horon's one-timer attempt was turned aside by Nolan Maier.

Midway through the second, the Blades made it 3-0. Dach's shot from the point hit two bodies in front of the goal to get past Serhyenko for his second of the contest at the 10:39 mark.

Late in the period, Saskatoon added another on the power play. Off of a faceoff win in the Raiders end, the puck was worked back to Tristen Robins who snapped a shot through traffic that beat Serhyenko to put the Blades up 4-0 after 40 minutes.

In the third, Logan Linklater was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a butt-ending penalty on Dach 3:20 into the period.

Midway through the period, Chase Wouters was assed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a cross-checking penalty after hitting Wiesblatt into the boards. Wiesblatt left the game and did not return.

The Raiders weren't able to solve Maier with the man advantage as the Blades netminder made 24 saves in the shutout. Serhyenko stopped 28 shots in the loss.

It's a quick turnaround for the Raiders as they'll take on the Brandon Wheat Kings (6-2-1-0) on Tuesday afternoon. Game time is 4 p.m. Catch the game on WHL Live on CHL TV.
