Silvertips Rally Late to Beat Chiefs, 4-3
October 7, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips utilized a two-goal third period Sunday night to pull off a come-from-behind win over the Spokane Chiefs as the home club fell just short of their third win in as many nights.
After falling behind on an Everett goal at 5:15, the Chiefs answered with a power play marker by Bear Hughes, his second in as many nights, to knot things up at 1-1 headed into the first break.
Spokane pulled ahead 3:13 into the second period on another power play tally; this time by Adam Beckman, who also scored in last night's contest. Following an Everett score at 14:24 of the period, the Chiefs reclaimed the lead at 16:05 when a Silvertips turnover led to a 3-on-1 opportunity that resulted in Chiefs forward Brandon Reller's first career WHL goal. Rookie goaltender Campbell Arnold staved off a bevy off Silvertips' shots late in the period to preserve the 3-2 lead into the final period.
The Silvertips struck again at 1:39 of the final period to tie things at three before Kindopp connected for his second of the night, this one coming on the power play, to put Everett on top for the first time since leading 1-0 in the first. A barrage of late shots on net from the Chiefs came up empty as the Silvertips claimed the 4-3 victory.
Arnold ended the night 21-for-25 for the Chiefs while Silvertips goaltender Keegan Karki went 27-for-30 on the evening. Spokane went 2-for-5 on the power play and Everett went 1-for-3.
