Everett Silvertips News Release

Seattle, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips lost in a shootout to the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 on Saturday night, November 24th, at Key Arena in Seattle. The struggles for the Silvertips in Seattle continued as they lost a one goal lead early in the third period and to date still have just four wins all time in 23 games played at "The Key". With the single point gained by going to overtime, their record is now 14-12-0-2 (30 pts.) and they remain third place in the U.S. Division.

Everett got things going early with a goal just 2:53 into the first period. Seattle goaltender Jacob DeSerres made an initial save but Shane Harper was crashing in and poked in the loose rebound. Seattle responded with an Ian McKenzie goal at 9:28 that briefly tied the score. The Silvertips then reestablished their lead while on the power play when Taylor Ellington drifted in between the circles from the right point and buried a one timer at 15:08.

Following an opening 20-minutes that saw a total of 23 shots on goal - 17 of those by Everett - the second period consisted of only seven shots, all of which resulted in saves by the two goaltenders. The final period saw the two offenses emerge again with each team putting up 13 shots, however, unfortunately for the Silvertips it was only the home team earning something to show for it.

A mere 37-seconds into the third, Lindsay Nielsen erased Seattle's deficit on the goal that would eventually force overtime. Neither team was able to convert in that extra five minutes and so it was on to the shootout. As the Thunderbirds second shooter, Bud Holloway had the only goal of the shootout to lift his team to the victory.

The Silvertips get a chance to regroup as they don't play again until next Friday night, November 30th, at home. It will be the first visit of the season for the Seattle Thunderbirds to Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center. Game time is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. The team will then travel north to Vancouver to take on the Giants next Saturday night for a 7:00 p.m. start time at Pacific Coliseum.
