Everett Silvertips News Release
Kent, WA - The Silvertips defeated the Thunderbirds Saturday night in Kent 4-1, led by Shane Harper's two goal night. Harper put up his 13th and 14th goals of the season pushing his team leading point total to 28. Chris Langkow had a three point night (1 goal, 2 assists), while Tyler Maxwell scored his team leading 15th goal of the year to round out the scoring for Everett. Kent Simpson stopped 30 of 31 shots faced to pick up his fifth win of the year. Everett's win Saturday night in Kent is only their second in the last 14 games at the Showare Center.
The Thunderbirds picked up the first goal of the night with Prab Rai's 13th of the year banging home a loose rebound in front at 19:52. Seattle held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
The second period was all Everett scoring three goals, the first of which coming from Harper at 9:47. Harper deflected the puck past Calvin Pickard off an Alex Theirau shot from the point. The Silvertips took the lead at 13:08 on Maxwell's 15th of the year. Maxwell took a hard wrist shot from the left circle that had eyes for the back of the net, in front of traffic, for a 2-1 Everett lead. Everett's third goal came from a great tic-tac-toe play starting with Langkow feeding the puck to Maxwell behind the net. Maxwell then quickly fed Harper in front of the net, who then went to his backhand, top shelf, over Pickard at 15:39 for a 3-1 lead after the second period.
Langkow scored Everett's fourth of the night on a backhanded wrap around past Pickard at 3:34 to conclude the scoring Saturday night for a 4-1 Everett win.
This brings the 'Tips record to 14-7-1-0 with 29 points in 22 games played. Everett gets three days rest before heading back to the Comcast Arena Wednesday night for a game against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:05.
