Raiders Edge Oil Kings 5-4 In Overtime

Edmonton, AB - The Prince Albert Raiders Edmonton connection led the way in a 5-4 overtime win over the Oil Kings. The Raiders four Edmonton born players combined for five points, and Meadow Lake Saskatchewan native Brandon Herrod scored the winner in overtime. The Oil Kings held a one goal lead to start the third period, but it slipped away.

"We lost the first shift of the game, we lost the first shift of second period and we came out dead flat to start the third." said Oil Kings Head Coach Steve Pleau. "That is unacceptable and it's going to get us on the ice and working hard tomorrow."

The Raiders capitalized off some early pressure just three minutes in when Edmonton native Jordan Rowley snapped a point shot past Oil Kings goalie Torrie Jung. Thirteen seconds later, Edmonton bounced back when Tomas Vincour beat Raiders netminder Garrett Zemlack short side on a rush off the right wing. The Oil Kings took a 2-1 lead seven minutes into the period when Brett Breitkreuz slapped one to the top corner past Zemlack's glove. The 20- year- old Oil Kings forward was stopped on a breakaway only seconds before he scored his ninth of the year.

The Oil Kings extended their lead midway through the second when Vincour fired a shot, Zemlack couldn't find the rebound and Brent Raedeke poked the loose puck home. Ryan Harrison got the Raiders back in it, just 15 seconds later, when he walked in and ripped a shot from the left faceoff dot past Jung's
