
Rai scores lone goal in 4-1 loss to Everett

Kent - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Saturday night at the ShoWare Center.
Seattle took a 1-0 lead with seven seconds left in the first period on a power-play goal. Jeremy Schappert had the puck at the top of the left circle and put a shot on net. Lindsay Nielsen was in front of Everett goalie Kent Simpson and tipped Schappert's shot to Prab Rai to the right of the goal. Simpson went down when Schappert shot giving Rai an empty net to shoot at. Rai quickly buried the puck for his 13th goal of the year.
Seattle (9-14-1-3) outshot Everett 14-10 in the first period. Everett tied the game at 9:47 of the second period on Shane Harper's 13th goal of the season. Alex Theriau and Scott MacDonald had the assists.
Everett took a 2-1 lead at 13:08 of the second on Tyler Maxwell's 15th goal of the season. Harper and Chris Langkow assisted on the goal.
Harper scored his second goal of the game and 14th of the season to give the Silvertips a 3-1 lead at 15:39 of the second period. Maxwell and Langkow had assists on the goal.
Everett (14-7-1-0) outshot Seattle 14-9 in the third period and led 24-23 in total shots after two periods.
Everett increased their lead to 4-1 at 3:34 of the third period on Langkow's seventh goal of the season. Maxwell and Drew McDermott assisted on the goal.
Everett outshot Seattle 11-8 in the third period, giving them a 35-31 overall advantage for the night.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard (8-10-1-3) made 31 saves on 35 shots in the loss. Kent Simpson (5-4-0-0) made 30 saves on 31 shots to record the win for Everett.
The T-Birds next game is Wednesday, November 25, against the Regina Pats at 7:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center. They then face the Portland Winterhawks at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, November 27, at ShoWare Center.
