
Silvertips Forward Garrett Pilon Named WHL Player of the Month for April

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), two-time Western Conference Champions of the Western Hockey League, announced in conjunction with the league that forward Garrett Pilon has been named the WHL Player of the Month for April 2018. He is the second Silvertip to claim the award this season, joining Matt Fonteyne.
Pilon, who was selected by the Washington Capitals in the third round, 87th overall, of the 2016 NHL Draft recorded 17 points (7g-10a) in 11 games as the Silvertips claimed their second Western Conference Championship in franchise history and advanced to the 2018 Rogers WHL Championship Series to face Swift Current.
During the month of April, he recorded points in 10 of the 11 games, recording six multi-point games as part of his team-leading performance. He had one three-point game and five two-point games. Pilon also added a multi-goal game during the team's western Conference Championship against the Tri-City Americans. He also collected one game-winning goal throughout the month.
The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was recognized as the first star of the game once, also earning third star honors of the game three times. Pilon was also recognized as the WHL's first star of the night one, the second star of the night once and the third star of the night once.
Overall, Pilon has led the Silvertips in the 2018 WHL Playoffs, recording 24 points (11g-13a) in 16 games, including one power-play goal and one game-winning goal. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward has now appeared in 29 career WHL Playoffs games, totaling 31 points (14g-17a), including two power-play goals and one game-winning goal.
Originally selected by the Kamloops Blazers in the seventh round (133rdoverall) of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, Pilon has appeared in 207 WHL regular season games in his career, registering 192 points (69g-123a), including 14 power-play goals, four short-handed goals, and 15 game-winning goals.
