Everett Silvertips News Release

LANGLEY, British Columbia - D-Jay Jerome earned a hat trick and five points, and Dante Hannoun scored twice to help the Victoria Royals defeat the Everett Silvertips, 7-1 on Saturday in the Vancouver Giants preseason tournament at Langley Events Centre.

The Silvertips took their first preseason loss in regulation in four games, maneuvering an adjusted lineup without four players - Connor Dewar, Riley Sutter, Wyatte Wylie and Jake Christiansen - all attending NHL training camps. Reece Vitelli earned his second goal of the preseason in the third period.

UP NEXT: The Silvertips return to preseason action in Langley tomorrow to face the host Vancouver Giants at 4:00 p.m. (live updates available at whl.ca/scores). The Silvertips return home for the preseason finale on Sept. 15 against the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:05 p.m.

Brandon Cutler flipped a pass through traffic, onto the tape of Hannoun at the doorstep for the game's first goal at 2:26 and Hannoun added his second of the game, a wrister off the rush from the right circle at 9:24 for a two goal cushion for Victoria.

The Silvertips outshot Victoria, 13-8 in the opening period, which included a scrum at the Victoria net several minutes after Hannoun's second goal when Martin Fasko-Rudas was stopped on a wrap-around attempt and the Silvertips narrowly missed depositing the rebound on a scrum at the crease. Kaid Oliver followed up for a 3-0 Royals cushion on his deflection at the net on Matthew Smith's one-timer from the blueline.

Jerome boosted the lead to 4-0 at 2:48 of the second period and starter Blake Lyda gave way to Dustin Wolf, who stalled Victoria (10 shots) in the second period.

Jerome finished his second goal of the game to push the lead to 5-0 at 2:18 of the third period off the rush, depositing a wrister from the right circle and Phillip Schultz increased the gap to six goals at 2:57.

Vitelli got the Silvertips on the board at 6:38 on a gorgeous saucer pass from the right boards by Gage Goncalves. Vitelli cradled the feed, went to the backhand, and tucked it underneath backup goaltender Connor Martin's pads.

Jerome converted a wrist shot from between the circles for his hat trick and game's final goal at 10:21.
