Wheat Kings to Assist Wag a Tail Walkathon

Brandon, MB. - This weekend's pre-season home and home series with the Regina Pats may be dominating the Brandon Wheat Kings' thoughts this weekend but come Sunday morning, a number of them will be assisting the Brandon Humane Society with their annual Wag-a-Tail Walkathon at Brandon's Kin Park (located on the corner of 1st Street and Aberdeen Avenue).

Ten members of the hockey club, including veterans Linden McCorrister, Braden Schneider, Jonny Hooker and Ben McCartney will be on hand to sign autographs, take photographs with the fans and help out with the barbecue

Joining them will be Jonny Lambos, Vincent Iorio, Chad Nychuk, Lynden McCallum, Neithan Salame and Ethan Kruger.

All proceeds from this year's Wag-a-Tail Walkathon benefit the Brandon Humane Society, who provide shelter to over 400 lost, unwanted, abused or abandoned animals each year.

The Brandon Humane Society is a non-profit charity governed by a volunteer board of directors. All operating costs are completely covered by donations and special events such as this. Please donate to help the many wonderful animals that need shelter, food, transport, and veterinary care on a regular basis.

Following are some reminders to those planning on attending Sunday morning:

(Some Rules to Remember)

All dogs must be leashed and have complete up to date vaccinations and shots

Participants are expected to practice responsible pet ownership

No bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades or scooters

The Wheat Kings will close out a weekend home and home series with the Pats in Regina Saturday night.

Brandon will then close out its 4-game pre-season schedule next weekend with a home and home series with Moose Jaw.
