
Silvertips Claim Victory Against Cougars, 4-2

Everett, WA - Tyler Maxwell had his second consecutive two goal game for Everett Saturday night leading the âTips to a 4-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars. Clayton Cumiskey and Josh Birkholz rounded out the scoring for the Silvertips. Ryan Murray had three assists for the Silvertips. Maxwell now leads the WHL with 10 game winning goals.
Cumiskey scored the first goal of the game at 18:32 of the first period. Josh Winquist made a great pass from the bottom of the right circle to Cumiskey drifting in the slot. Cumiskey stalled and found an opening top shelf blocker side beating Cougars goalie Ty Rimmer for his seventh of the year. Less than a minute later, Birkholz made the score 2-0 in favor of Everett. Birkholz broke into the Prince George zone on a 2 on 1 with Cody Fowlie. Birkholz elected to shoot and beat Rimmer with a hard wrist shot glove side at 19:25.
Maxwell scored his team leading 32nd goal on the power play just 41 seconds into the second period. Maxwell, after receiving a Ryan Harrison pass at the goal line, banked a shot off Rimmer's leg pad and into the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.
Prince George stormed back into the game with back to back goals 20 seconds apart in the third period. Starting at 11:44 Charles Inglis beat Simpson from the top let circle with a well placed wrist shot, top shelf glove side. Brett Connolly scored his 28th goal of the season at 12:04 on a partial breakaway attempt going blocker side to make the score 3-2. Maxwell scored his second goal of the game at 16:02 to regain a two goal lead for Everett. Murray's shot from the right point was redirected by Maxwell, who was stomach first on the ice, before beating Rimmer five-hole.
This brings the âTips record to 20-23-3-4 with 47 points in 50 games played. Everett goes on the road Sunday night to take on the Seattle Thunderbirds in Kent at 5:05 pm!
