Stockton Heat News Release

LOVELAND, CO. - Signed to a pro tryout earlier in the day from the Manchester Monarchs, defenseman Rob Hamilton's wrist shot in overtime caps off a crazy win in Colorado by a 5-4 final. In what was a back-and-forth game, the Eagles got on the board early thanks to Dominic Toninato, who was able to put the home team on the board first thanks to a shorthanded goal and kept the momentum going moments later with another goal as Logan O'Connor was able to beat Heat goalie Jon Gillies past his left pad to make it 2-0 early. However, the Heat regrouped and in their next power-play chance, it'd be Tyler Graovac who'd get the visitors on the board after gloving a pass from Alan Quine near the net and stuffing the puck past Colorado netminder Pavel Francouz to half the deficit. The Heat were the benefactors of another power-play just as the first period was ending, but with 17.6 left on the clock, Colorado swept a puck in front of the net to the stick of Spencer Foo waiting on the left circle and his blast tied the game up at two. Stockton came back out after the intermission and picked up where they left off as Graovac would score his second of the night just past the first minute of the period to take their first lead of the night. During the Heat's fourth power-play chance of the night, a puck rolled up over Graovac at the blueline which resulted in a breakaway that O'Connor was able to beat Gillies to tie the game up. The momentum continued for the Eagles after their second shorthanded goal of the night as Martin Kaut came out of the box and received a pass up the ice and beat Gillies to retake the lead 4-3. Late in the game with the net empty, Stockton would draw even thanks to Adam Ollas Mattsson whose shot beat Francouz and sent the game to overtime to ensure the team would earn a point before Hamilton would help earn his new team the two points.
