LOVELAND, CO. - Curtis Lazar's three-point night, which came in a span of 7:00 in the second period helped the Heat beat the Colorado Eagles 4-2 and end their road trip with back-to-back wins. The Heat turned to Nick Schneider in net, and he was busy to start the game, but was privy to the task, making stop after stop, including one of his harder saves of the first that would eventually be picked up by the Heat and skated down the ice for the first goal of the evening. Schneider even earned his first professional point as Matthew Phillips finished the backdoor tap-in from an Anthony Peluso feed to take the 1-0 lead. The Eagles would tie things up in the second period after scoring another shorthanded goal against the Heat but the Heat would get one back on the power-play thanks to Glenn Gawdin who scores his fourth power-play goal of the season to retake the lead. Lazar, who assisted on the Gawdin goal, would pot his own moments later and that spelled the end of the period for Colorado starting goalie Spencer Martin who was replaced through the remainder of the second period by Pavel Francouz. Lazar wasn't done though, as moments later he'd steal a puck outside the offensive zone and finish with the deke past the new Eagles goalie for his third-straight point. Colorado would put a stop to the run thanks to Michael Joly late in the second period but the Heat maintained the two-goal lead after 40 minutes. In the third, the Eagles returned Martin to the net but it didn't make a difference as the Heat were able to ride a hot-handed Schneider in net and hold on to the 4-2 win.

The Heat return home this Friday at 7:00 p.m. against the Tucson Roadrunners at Stockton Arena. It's another Fry Day of the season, presented by Golden State Restaurant Group McDonald's.
