BILOXI, MS - In both ends of Friday's doubleheader, the Biloxi Shuckers (33-34) struck early, but the Chattanooga Lookouts (37-29) scored late to win, 4-2 and 4-3, and earn a sweep at MGM Park. The losses snapped Biloxi's three-game win streak against the Lookouts, with game two being decided in eight innings.

In game one, Biloxi struck early with two runs in the first. After Isaac Collins led the inning off with a walk, Tyler Black doubled to push Collins to third. Jackson Chourio then drove in his team-leading 41st RBI with a sac fly to center, giving Biloxi a 1-0 lead. They extended it two batters later with a single from Carlos Rodriguez that scored Black.

Shuckers' starter Justin Jarvis started hot against the Lookouts' lineup and struck out five over the first two innings. He struck out the side in the first, including 19th overall prospect Noelvi Marte. In the third, Chattanooga struck back with an RBI groundout from Blake Dunn and a two-run double from James Free. They extended the lead to 4-2 in the sixth with Free's solo shot to right.

Jarvis (6-4) took the loss despite allowing two earned runs over six innings with nine strikeouts. Christian Roa (4-5) earned the win for Chattanooga with six innings and Ryan Meisinger earned his seventh save of the year.

In game two, the Shuckers again jumped out to a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the first, Chourio launched his team-leading 10th home run of the year off the batter's eye in center. Starter James Meeker, making his fifth career start, went three scoreless innings with three strikeouts, lowering his ERA to 2.41 over 17 appearances and 37 innings.

In the fourth, the Lookouts started their second comeback of the night. A solo shot from Quincy McAfee made it 2-1, and they then took the lead on a two-run home run from Rece Hinds an inning later. The Shuckers knotted the game at three in the fifth off a walk to Nick Kahle, who scored on a wild pitch and a balk. Later in the inning, Jackson Chourio tallied his 20th stolen base of the year to become the third Double-A player with 10+ homers and 20+ steals in 2023.

In the eighth, an error by Shuckers' reliever Zach Vennaro scored placed runner Rece Hinds, giving Chattanooga a 4-3 lead. Pedro Garcia retired Biloxi in order in the bottom of the inning to earn his fifth save of the year, and finish off the 4-3 Lookouts win. Vennaro (2-3) took the loss while Evan Kravetz (2-0) tallied the win.

The teams will meet for the fifth game of the series on Saturday night at 6:05 at MGM Park. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Spider-Man and are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Marvel Super Hero during the Shuckers' Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond Night at MGM Park. The Shuckers are also set to wear their special MARVEL jerseys.
