Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (25-30) dropped their second-straight to the Biloxi Shuckers (33-24) on Monday night at Trustmark Park, 3-0. The shutout loss was the seventh suffered this season.
Tucker Davidson (L, 2-4) brought a league-leading 1.49 ERA into his 11th start of the season on Monday night. Davidson struck out three over two scoreless innings before Biloxi touched the scoreboard in the third inning.
Biloxi leadoff hitter Luis Avilles Jr. singled with one out and then freshly named Southern League Hitter of the Week, Trent Grisham blasted a two-run homer to right, placing the Shuckers up 2-0. Jake Gatewood followed with a solo homer to left, and it was 3-0. Grisham reached base safely in all four plate appearances.
Those were the only blemishes in Davidson's outing. The 23-year-old left-hander gave up three runs on seven hits over 5.0 innings with two walks and four strikeouts. He ends the night still leading the league with a 1.82 ERA.
Shuckers' starter Johan Bellisario (W, 5-0) held the M-Braves off the scoreboard over 6.0 innings on three hits walking one and striking out six, earning his fifth win.
Andres Santiago worked 2.0 shutout innings behind Davidson, and Jeremy Walker and Josh Graham dealt scoreless innings to finish a great night for the bullpen.
Alejandro Salazar went 2-for-4 at the plate, and Jonathan Morales was 2-for-3 with a double. Salazar has four hits through the first two games in the series. The M-Braves had more opportunities at the plate on Monday, finishing 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. In two games, they are 0-for-16 over the first two games.
