PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (25-31) dropped their third straight game to the Biloxi Shuckers (34-24) on Tuesday night at Trustmark Park, 4-3. Atlanta Braves top overall prospect Cristian Pache added his fifth home run in the loss.

Biloxi jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first two innings and did the damage with two outs. Patrick Leonard slugged a triple to right-center scoring Trent Grisham to put the Shuckers up 1-0 in the first inning. M-Braves starter Jasseel De La Cruz (L, 1-2) issued free passes to the next two batters and C.J. Hinojosa drove in a pair with a single to push the lead to 3-0.

The Shuckers added another run in the second inning with two outs on a single by Jake Gatewood scoring Luis Avilles Jr.

De La Cruz and reliever Jonathan Aro combined to hold Biloxi off the scoreboard over the next seven innings and retired 12 of the final 14 batters. Aro struck out three and retired all nine batters over 3.0 perfect innings. Despite the four early runs, De La Cruz still turned in a quality start tossing 6.0 innings and allowing just three earned runs on seven hits with three walks and one strikeout.

Mississippi began to chip away at the 4-0 deficit in the fourth inning. Riley Unroe and Alejandro Salazar opened the inning with singles against Biloxi starter Trey Supak (W, 7-2). Carlos Martinez bounced into a double play, but Daniel Lockhart singled in Unroe from third to make it 4-1.

Pache hit a one-out home run into the back of the Braves' left field bullpen in the top of the fifth inning to pull the M-Braves within two at 4-2. The homer had an exit velocity of 104 mph and traveled exactly 400 feet. Pache finished the night 2-for-3 with the long ball, single and walk, his 19th multi-hit game of the season.

Drew Waters followed Pache's homer with a single, increasing his team-leading on-base streak to 12 games. Unroe hit a routine fly ball to left field that was misplayed by Joantgel Segovia and dropped for a double scoring Waters and it was 4-3.

Biloxi relievers Devin Williams and Luke Barker pitched the final four innings scoreless to secure their series victory and 16th win in their last 20 tries. The Shuckers remain tied atop the Southern League South Division standings with 12 games left in the first half.

Game four of the five-game set between the Magnolia State rivals is Wednesday night at Trustmark Park. RHP Ian Anderson (2-4, 3.27) makes his team-leading 12th start and RHP Drew Rasmussen (0-0, 2.65) gets the ball for the Shuckers. First pitch is set for 6:35 pm with coverage beginning at 6:20 pm on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio, MiLB First Pitch app. and MiLB.TV (subscription required).
