BILOXI, Miss. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (5-14) fell to the Biloxi Shuckers (11-8) by a 6-4 score in the fourth game of the five-game series at MGM Park on Tuesday night.
Biloxi left-handed relief pitcher Angel Perdomo (2-0) earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief work. Jacksonville right-handed relief pitcher Jordan Milbrath (1-0) took the loss, giving up a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Aaron Kurcz worked the ninth on the mound for Biloxi, allowing a run, yet getting the final outs to earn his first save of the season.
Biloxi's Cooper Hummel started the scoring in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to right field to give the Shuckers a 1-0 lead. Jacksonville answered as Jacksonville's right-handed starting pitcher Jorge Guzman, in his second pro at-bat, homered to left field to tie the game. The Shrimp also added an RBI triple by Justin Twine and RBI single by Joe Dunand to build a 3-1 lead in the top of the third. The Shuckers plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 3-3 when Guzman hit a batter with the bases loaded, followed by an RBI groundout by Alexander Alvarez.
Biloxi went in front in the bottom of the sixth against Milbrath. Luis Aviles, Jr., broke the tie with a sacrifice fly, followed by a Blake Allemand RBI single to put the Shuckers lead at 5-3. Weston Wilson added a home run off Jacksonville right-handed reliever Parker Bugg in the bottom of the seventh to grow the lead to 6-3. Down to Jacksonville's final out, John Silviano delivered a pinch-hit RBI single to right field for the Jumbo Shrimp to cut Biloxi's lead to 6-4, which would be the final.
Biloxi right-handed starting pitcher Bowden Francis worked five innings in his Double-A debut, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Guzman also worked five innings in his start for Jacksonville, allowing three runs (all earned) on one hit with a walk and eight strikeouts (new Double-A high).
