Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
PEARL, Miss. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (19-31) fell to the Mississippi Braves (22-26) by a 4-0 score in the final game of the five-game series at Trustmark Park on Sunday night.
Mississippi left-handed starting pitcher Kyle Muller (3-1) earned the victory by pitching seven scoreless innings, scattering three hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto (3-5) took the loss, pitching four and two-thirds innings where he allowed two runs (both earned) on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Riley Unroe and Ryan Casteel hit back-to-back RBI singles off Yamamoto to put the Braves in front 2-0. Against Jacksonville right-handed relief pitcher Tyler Stevens in the bottom of the seventh, the Braves plated two more runs. Drew Waters hit a double to right and a throwing error by Jumbo Shrimp right fielder Stone Garrett on the play scored Cristian Pache to make it a 3-0 score. Casteel followed with an RBI single to put the Mississippi lead at 4-0, which would be the final.
The Jumbo Shrimp will bus through the night back to Jacksonville and there will be no baseball on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. The Jumbo Shrimp will start a five-game home series against the Mobile BayBears at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, and www.jaxshrimp.com.
