Shreveport Takes Game One of Three-Game Series

The Pensacola Pelicans and Shreveport Sports got the final series of the 2007 season underway tonight in Pensacola. Shreveport had control of the game from the first inning, winning 13-4 in Pensacola, FL.

The Sports scored runs in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 8th innings to cumulate their 13 runs on 19 hits. In the 1st, they scored two runs on three hits to take the early lead. They followed that in the 2nd inning, scoring 5 runs, mostly from a 3-RBI double from Justin Humphries. The Sports added 3 more runs in the 3rd to make the score 10-0.

Pensacola got on the board in the 4th inning when Napoleon Calzado hit a ground ball that scored Chris Reynolds who doubled to lead off the inning.

Shreveport added two more in the 5th inning on five hits with RBI from JP Schmidt and Tommy Bryant.

The Pels had their largest inning in the 7th, scoring 3 runs to bring their total to 4. Trino Aguilar led off the inning with a double and scored two batters later from a Bo Brown RBI single. American Association Rookie of the Year then had an RBI ground out that scored Joe Hulett. Brown would come into score the Pelicans 4th run.

In the 8th, Shreveport added one more from a Bryant RBI double, making the final score 13-4.
