Pensacola Pelicans News Release

Pelicans designated hitter Napoleon Calzado did all he could tonight as he hit two homeruns, both solo shots. Shreveport, however, topped the Pels 7-5 in front of 2,450 fans on Fan Appreciation Night.

The Sports again scored 2 runs in the 1st inning to take an early lead. Justin Humphries and Tommy Bryant both had 2 RBI doubles. Shreveport added two more in the 3rd inning to take the 4th inning. Humphries had an RBI double and Wade Robinson had a sac-fly.

Pensacola got on the board and cut the lead in half by scoring two runs on three hits. Cesar Aranguren doubled to score Andrew Revall and Chris Reynolds drove in Aranguren.

Shreveport got those runs back plus one to take a 7-2 lead. JP Schmidt hit a bases clearing three-RBI double.

In the 6th inning, Napoleon Calzado hit the first of his two homeruns on the night, a monster shot to left center field.

Calzado hit a repeat shot in the 8th inning to cut the lead to 2 but that would be it as the Sports won 7-5.

The final game of the season begins Saturday at 6:05 pm at Pelican Park in Pensacola, FL.
