Shreveport 7, Pensacola 5

Shreveport continues to play solid baseball as the Sports win their fifth game in a row as they edge the Pensacola Pelicans by two runs. Shreveport RF JP Schmidt and 1B Justin Humphries combined to go 5-for-9 at the plate with three runs scored and five runs driven in. 2B Jack Joffrion chipped in with a three hit night as well for the Sports. Shreveport starter Daniel Welch notches his first win of the year going seven innings allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts. For Pensacola, DH Napoleon Calzado had a tremendous night offensively going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI and two home runs.

Fort Worth 8, St. Joe 1

Fort Worth rolls out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and would cruise from there to rout the St. Joe Blacksnakes. SS Marc Mirizzi had a monster game at the dish for Fort Worth as he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBI and a home run, his ninth of the year. C Kelley Gulledge had three hits in four at-bats for the Cats along with a run scored and two RBI. Nick Martin moves his record to 7-5 on the season giving up no earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts. 2B Terry Robles and SS Chad Sosebee each had 2-for-5 nights for St. Joe.

El Paso 7, Coastal Bend 1

El Paso breaks opens up a tight game with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take control and beat Coastal Bend handily by six runs. 3B Juan Camacho and 1B Walter Olmstead combined to go 4-for-8 at the plate with two runs and a RBI. RF JD Reininger had also had two hits for El Paso while plating two runs. El Paso starter Aaron Trolia notches the win allowing one earned run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts in six innings of work. He is now 2-0 on the season.

St. Paul 9, Sioux Falls 8

The St. Paul Saints clinch the second half North Division title with their win over the Sioux Falls Canaries tonight. The Saints will now face Lincoln in the best-of-five divisional series beginning Monday in Lincoln. DH Marcel Longmire was perfect for St. Paul tonight as he had a 3-for-3 game with a run scored and a RBI. RF Derrick White and 1B Fernando Valenzuela each collected two hits in the game for St. Paul. Dustin Bolton is the winning pitcher for the Saints hurling a six inning performance allowing five earned runs with seven hits. Bolton improves his record to 3-9 on the season.

Lincoln 9, Sioux City 7

@ Lincoln, NE. Time: 3:24 Attendance: 4,944

HR: SC-Julian Benavidez (8), Jake Daubert (9)

Lincoln put up a six spot in the sixth inning to overcome a 5-3 deficit and beat the Sioux City Explorers by two runs at Haymarket Park Friday night. SS Tony Garcia went 3-for-5 on the night with two runs driven in and a run scored to lead the Saltdogs offense. DH Seth Pietsch and LF Pichi Balet each had two hits in the game for Lincoln as well. Saltdogs reliever Kyle Ruwe notched his 10th victory of the season despite allowing three earned runs on four hits in two innings of work. 1B Jake Daubert and 3B Julian Benavidez each homered for Sioux City, who are now eliminated from playoff contention.
