Shorthanded Clips Fall to Wolves

February 7, 2019 - NBA G League (G League)
Ontario Clippers News Release

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (16-17) fall below .500 as they were defeated by the Iowa Wolves (13-23), 120-114, on the front-end of a back-to-back.

Hakim Warrick led Iowa with a masterful performance of 40 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 15-of-20 from the field and 10-of-13 from the charity stripe. His 11 points in the final frame helped the Wolves close out the victory.

The short-handed Clippers managed to keep the game close while playing with only seven players, thanks to call-ups and injuries. After holding a 102-99 lead with 8:10 to go in the game, Agua Caliente just didn't have enough left in the tank as they watched the Wolves go on a 17-3 run to seal the game. Four Clippers logged at least 42 minutes on the court.

Agua Caliente's efforts were led by Desi Rodriguez and Brandon Fields, each recording career highs of 30 points. Rodriguez added 11 rebounds for the double-double and also blocked three shots while Fields paired his 30 points with seven assists.

The Clippers are back in action tomorrow as they head to Sioux Falls to face the Skyforce in their season series finale. Agua Caliente won the first matchup in December but the Skyforce got even in Ontario in January. Tomorrow's rubber-match is slated to tip off at 5 p.m. PDT inside the Sanford Pentagon.
