Indiana Mad Ants News Release
Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants defeated the Capital City Go-Go, 121-118, in overtime at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Thursday afternoon.
Both teams held double-digit leads at different junctures during Thursday's matinée affair.
The Mad Ants (18-15) trailed by five with 3:24 remaining in the game, and would take the lead with 10.5 seconds remaining after Rob Gray hit a pullup jumper from the right wing. Chris Chiozza's putback off his own missed layup to follow would send the game into the extra period tied up at 114.
A three-point shot from Omari Johnson, a dunk from Davon Reed and two free throws from Rob Gray was enough to hold off Capital City (18-15), despite Kellen Dunham hoisting an open three point shot as time expired.
Capital City's first ever trip to Fort Wayne ended as the second overtime win this season for the Mad Ants.
Gray led all scorers in his first career start with 30 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists. Grey converted 9-of-19 shots, on top of a 9-of-11 clip from the free throw line.
Indiana Pacers assignee Alize Johnson finished with another double-double performance, highlighted by 23 points and 19 rebounds. Johnson also dished out five assists.
Johnson, Reed and Stephan Hicks all finished the game with double figures as Fort Wayne starters combined for 99 of the 121 points.
Despite shooting a 2-for-8 clip from the floor, Hicks shot 11-of-11 from the free throw line this afternoon.
Dunham led all Go-Go scorers with 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting off the bench.
Chiozza finished with 19 points and a game-high 10 assists for Capital City.
The Mad Ants finish its fifth back-to-back series tomorrow at home against Windy City. The Go-Go return home on Saturday for a southeast divisional clash with Lakeland.
