WINNIPEG, MB- The Wichita Wingnuts (46-33) defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes (46-32) 8-3 at Shaw Park on Friday night.

Three Wingnuts' pitchers combined on the club's second three-hitter in three games. Josh Lowey started and became the American Association's first 13-game winner, yielding just two hits over seven strong innings.

Wichita scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to take the lead. Tied at 1-1, Mike Conroy reached first on an infield single. After Mason Morioka lined out to left field, Greg Porter singled through the left side to advance Conroy to second base. A double steal put runners on second and third. Conroy then scored the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice by David Peralta. Peralta hit a groundball to first base where Conroy slid home ahead of Josh Mazzola's throw to the plate. Jessie Mier, Wilberto Ortiz, and Steve Carrillo followed with consecutive RBI singles to give the Wingnuts an 8-3 lead.

Winnipeg scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to pull within two runs. With first and second and no outs, Luis Alen pulled an RBI double down the left field line that scored Yurendell de Caster. Lowey retired Michael Coles on a lineout to second base before Mazzola cut the lead to 5-3 with an RBI groundout to third. Lowey escaped further trouble by retiring Kyle Day on a groundball in front of home plate.

After walking Amos Ramon leading off the bottom of the fifth, Lowey retired the final eight batters to face him. Lowey allowed three earned runs in his seven innings, walked four, and struck out two. The win extends Lowey's franchise single-season record that was set last Sunday at Sioux Falls. Lowey has worked at least seven innings and allowed three or fewer hits in each of his last three starts.

Wichita broke the game open with three runs in the top of the sixth. Mier reached first with one out on an error by Ramon at third base. Ortiz singled Mier to second, and both runners crossed the plate when Carrillo lined a double down the right field line. Carrillo scored later in the inning on a Ryan Khoury sacrifice fly.

Jared Simon and Josh Dew each worked a scoreless inning of relief. Eight Wingnuts had at least one base hit. John Rodriguez left the game in the top of the first due to injury.

Andrew Walker started for Winnipeg and took the loss. Walker allowed seven runs, six earned, on nine hits. Walker struck out five and did not issue a walk.

Khoury led off the game with a triple and scored on Conroy's groundout to shortstop. Two walks and a Price Kendall sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third allowed Winnipeg to tie the game.
