PROVIDENCE, R.I (Mar. 6, 2011) ‚¬" The Bruins scored three times in the first period and Anton Khudobin stopped all 20 shots he faced as Providence defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 6-0 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. With the win, Providence improves to 28-30-3-2 overall. The Sound Tigers fall to 21-34-3-4.

Providence got on the board just 2:04 into the first period when Zach Hamill fired his eighth goal of the season past Joel Martin to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. They doubled that lead at 8:21 of the opening frame when Trent Whitfield gathered a puck by the goal line to the right of Martin and scored from a sharp angle to make the score 2-0. Max Sauve pushed the Providence lead to three when Whitfield gathered a rebound on a shot from the point during the P-Bruins first power play. The Providence captain found Sauve above the crease, who snapped a shot past the outstretched glove of Martin at 14:47. Anton Khudobin made a few big saves late in the period, and the P-Bruins led 3-0 after the opening frame.

Neither team scored in the second frame, but the Sound Tigers who began the game with 17 skaters finished the second period with just 14 when Brandon Svendsen did not return after being boarded by Kirk MacDonald and both David Ullstrom and Rob Hisey left the game and did not return.

Providence poured it on in the third with a shorthanded goal from Whitfield 2:35 into the period, and added on two power play goals from David Laliberte and Jordan Smotherman at 17:34 and 17:56 to round out the scoring. Anton Khudobin earned his second win in as many games with the Bruins. Joel Martin made 29 saves in the loss.

The Sound Tigers return to action Wednesday night when they travel to Albany to face the Devils at 7 p.m.
